Mark Ong
Lawyer
Mark is the newest member of our team, joining Equitas Lawyers in July 2020 while doing his cross-qualification papers at UWA. He was admitted to practice in March 2023.
Mark brings a sharp, analytical, and detail-oriented legal mind to the Equitas team. He read law at King’s College London on scholarship, graduating with second-upper class honours from his LLB in Law with Transnational Legal Studies, and with a distinction on his MA in Medical Law.
Since joining Equitas Lawyers, Mark has worked on a broad range of matters across all our practice areas, with a focus on civil and commercial litigation. He has appeared and instructed Counsel in the Western Australian courts and the State Administrative Tribunal. His experience includes:
- Analysing medical and ambulance reports to draft submissions to the Aged Care Royal Commission,
- Drafting and assisting with migration-related applications in the Administrative Review Tribunal,
- Appearing and assisting Counsel in the Family Court in relation to the sale of a property complicated by injunctions,
- Working closely with Counsel on a debt recovery claim in the Magistrates Court culminating in a 3-day trial, and
- Assisting with various matters before SAT concerning the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act and Strata Titles Act.
Mark is keen to cut his teeth on a broad range of civil matters.
Having served as a paramedic in the Republic of Singapore Air Force, he has a particular interest in medical law matters, particularly mental health and capacity law. Mark is happy to work directly with Counsel on medical-related matters, and welcomes enquiries on healthcare matters to broaden his, and the firm’s, horizons.
Outside the law, Mark enjoys good stories, bad puns, and the proper use of the Oxford comma.
